Glove Monsters

We have been working on our leap year badge at Rainbows.
According to an old Irish legend St Brigid stuck a deal with St Patrick to allow women to propose to men every four years.
A man was apparently expected to pay a penalty if he refused a marriage proposal from a woman on Leap Day. In many European countries tradition says that he should buy the woman 12 pairs of gloves to hide the embarrassment of not having an engagement ring.
We chatted about this and then made our glove monsters, I was dubious about sewing the gloves closed but all of them managed it on their own and were very proud!
