Nicktor's news

Cobblers :-(

Gazweasel and I spent a very pleasant hour or so in the Queen Victoria pre-match wondering if it was going to go ahead or not. The blizzard that we were watching through the pub windows made us glad we were indoors, and a couple of pints of Ruddles Best hit the spot.

In truth though, the only person who will be pleased that the match was played tonight is Danny Hylton, the Shots striker who has taken a liking for the FA Cup this season - with 7 goals in the 3 games played so far. Danny got a red card in the match against Rotherham (after scoring a hat-trick) after allowing himself to get would up by Fatty McCheats bullying tactics. Danny now gets to play against Middlesboro on Saturday after the 3rd match of his 3 match ban was completed tonight.

The weather closed the Slab tonight, so we had to stand in the East Bank. It's been a couple of years since we last stood here, but maybe it wasn't a bad thing as at least the East Bank has a roof!

Northampton totally outplayed us and deserved their win, although I rather suspect that the referee, Mr Deadman, is a direct descendent of PC Reg Deadman (there should be some kind of prize for everyone who gets that cultural reference, but I'm not in the mood to give out prizes, so if anyone wants to give me stars to cheer me up, they'd be very welcome!)

Let's put the match behind us, and ook forward to competing against Middlesboro - and who knows, the Shots could reach the 5th round of the FA Cup for only the 3rd time ever.
