On the ice

Walked over the pond to see how the harvester is doing. The ice is certainly thick enough, but lots of cracks. It would be nice to skate though. Unfortunately this situation may soon be over. The view back from the pond in the main blip.

Checked the water level in the ditch downstream from the pond on the way back. It's several centimetres down from last weekend and the wider parts of the ditch are frozen. Still enough flow to keep the narrow parts open even though last night it was -14°C (the coldest this winter!). A funny phenomenon in the extra: as the water level has been lower each night, there are holes in which a new layer of ice has formed every night below the previous layer.
