We were at the theatre tonight for a production of Gaslight by Patrick Hamilton.
This 1938 play is set in 1880, depicts an abusive relationship and is apparently the origin of the term ‘gaslighting’ (not as modern as you’d think) as a description of psychological abuse where false information is fed to a victim to make them doubt their perception or memory.
