The greenhouse

Welcome to the University of Washington, Botany Greenhouse. This was an event that was put on by one of my local photography clubs.

Pictured above is the main hallway where researchers examine specimens and cut samples to take back to their labs.

Just off of the hallway on either side, are a number of large rooms containing many different plant species, arranged mostly by location.

The greenhouse is home to a large number of plant species from all over the world.

One of their most noted species is the "Corpse Flower." The curator told us that it might bloom in spring of 2013. When it does bloom, people come from all over to have a sniff of the odor, which is aptly described as rotting flesh!
