Flo

In December myself and three of my Brighton Skies friends bought a Groupon voucher for The British Wildlife Centre in Lingfield.  Alan and I went last year and it's a great day out, so thought it would be the perfect place to go with photography buddies.  However, it didn't prove easy to find a date that we could all do and we had to cancel our first choice due to Storm Ciara.  The voucher was only valid until 1st March, so we kept this weekend free and planned to go tomorrow, but said we'd keep today free as well in case the weather was better.

The forecast has kept changing but yesterday it appeared that today was going to be the better option with very heavy rain forecast for tomorrow, so I said it would be better to change it to today.  Rose said she wouldn't be able to come today due to a bowls match she was playing in this evening, but said to go ahead without her, Audrey who's an Air Hostess had previously said that she couldn't do either of the days, and last night Marianna went home from work ill and wasn't up to coming either!  Fortunately Colette, another Skies friend was free to come so I picked her up at 9am.

We arrived just as the centre was opening and apart from one very short, sharp shower, it stayed dry all day. It was windy and very cold, but we've had a lovely day, although I felt bad about the others not being able to come.  The tickets were only £5 each though, so it wasn't expensive, but we really didn't expect the run of bad weather that we've had.

We attended all of the Keeper Talks where they feed the animals so there's opportunities for close up photos, but I think the highlight for me was Flo the fox - she’s such a beautiful girl and very healthy looking.  My other favourites were the red squirrels, which I blipped last time, and there's also an albino squirrel called Polly - I've added a photo of her to my extras.

We left at 4pm and timed it well as just as we'd got inside the cafe there was the biggest hailstorm!  I dropped Colette off on the way home and tonight we picked up a Thai takeaway which was perfect as I was so cold and tired that I didn't want to cook.  

I uploaded my photos from today and I've taken 1.452!  I've managed to get them down to 700 and still need to delete more, but I'll have another look at them tomorrow as I fell asleep going through them all.
