Getting To The Root
I liked the imposing nature of this group of intertwining trunks that have grown together to produce a solid impenetrable wall. I think the image reflects a solidity, not just from the roundness of the individual trunks, but by the strength of their combination. The central root split in two, already producing one new limb, guards a new shoot close to hand.
There isn't much ground about without a snow covering and even in the protection of this little alcove, the snow begins to accumulate with light flurries in the air.
