Glad That's Over!
Here I am after cataract surgery on my right eye. The doctor said it went according to plan, and there were no problems. Cynthia had both her eyes done a year ago, so I knew it was a routine procedure, but I couldn't help being nervous, as indicated by my twenty-points-above-normal blood pressure. Don't let C's blip fool you!
While waiting to remove the tape from my eye, my feelings were a mixture of apprehension and excitement. Just as I'd been warned, my vision was very cloudy, and for a while, images were tilted, and not aligned with my left eye.
I've slept most of the afternoon -- last night's fitful and short sleep was a blessing in disguise. Nine hours post-op, the double vision has gone and the cloudiness has decreased a lot, although my eye feels as if it took a direct hit from a pickleball. But I can already tell that my distance vision is going to be very good.
Cynthia watched the surgery, as seen through the operating microscope, on an LCD display in the comfortable viewing room. The room also has a window into the surgery. She has a DVD copy of the procedure. If you ask her nicely, I'm sure she'd be happy to show it to you.
