Something I'm severely lacking!!
Hello everyone.....at last!
Sorry it has taken so long but I didn't want to start blipping again until I thought I could keep it up! I am about to put up millions of back blips of my journey to today. In spite of it all I was true to the blip cause and managed one blip a day. However I was doped to the eyeballs when I took some so I apologise for quality!! If anyone is interested you can trawl back through them.
I am now in the ANK (after new knee ) period and it has been quite a journey so far....not all good! The actual operation and stay in hospital was better than expected. I was awake and fully concious for the op and wanted to watch it on TV but they couldn't find one. Apparently I am the first person to laugh as I felt my whole body move with the force of the surgeons hammering!! The pain relief and care in the hospital afterwards were amazing and I cannot praise the staff at Raigmore enough!
However when I came home it was a different story. Everyone's experience is different and unique. Some have more pain than others. What I wasn't prepared for was my whole leg being sore all the time from groin to ankle!! It keeps me awake and I am only mananging about three hours sleep a night hence the being too tired and fed up to blip. I'm kind of getting used to it though and I believe it goes gradually over the next few weeks.
The exercises are.....interesting!!!! I can now do them with no tears (and beleive me I'm no wimp!!!)...a distinct improvement. It is quite amazing though how resilient the body is and how much I can do already. I can put more weight on the leg than I have been able to do for a long time and it is almost stright for the first time in four years.
I am now a bit more optimistic and I know that all will be well.....eventually.....I just need to be patient ....not one of my strengths. I want to run before I can walk so to speak.
I will try to get back into the swing of journals again but forgive me if it's slow and sporadic. Thank you all so much for the comments and thoughts....especially those of you who have left many comments on my last page asking how I am.....it really helped and I was able to read them on my phone while in the hospital...THANK YOU!! You are all amazing!
Thought this blip was a good start as it's something I'm not getting enough of.....sleep!!
