Vue des Isles!
Looking out toward Herm, Jethou, Sark and Jersey!
This blip show we had a nice bright day in fact we now have sunshine (yipee)
This is the winding little Pier at "Half Way".
There are many of these small stone piers and slipways, all beautifully constructed, all around Guernsey's coast. I guess it is because fishing was once Guernsey's main industry and masons were presumably relatively cheap.
Half Way is so called because Guernsey had two centres, St Sampson and St Peter Port and it is halfway between. Originally there were trams and tracks which ran between the two and I think this would have been the main stop enroute. The current bus company still use a large shed for storage which is also on the seafront. Until recently it still had the tram tracks and this must have been where the trams stayed overnight.
Sadly all history now!
