The Rubin Starcase

We had a great day today. We went to the MTA customer service office and got senior transportation cards. There were not many people there and we walked out with our cards in half an hour. Very efficient. Then we traveled to Union Square on our way to the Rubin Museum of Art to meet Elke for a tour and lunch. (Just to be clear, last week when I was talking of Jason and Elke I was referring to Shelly’s daughter Elke and her husband Jason. Now I’m referring to my son Jason and his partner Elke. Confusing? You bet.) Today it was “my” Elke who happens to be marketing director of the Rubin. We loved the museum and the time we spent with Elke. The staircase was once part of Barney’s a clothing store that occupied the building where the museum is now. I took a zillion photos there.

When we got home we rested and had dinner before walking less than a block to hear the Oratorio Society of New York’s performance of the Brahms Requiem. We loved that too. It is the best performance of that work that either of us has seen. And since we’ve both sung it ourselves we were mentally singing along as we listened.
