My current reading
'Sunbathing in the Rain,' is subtitled. 'A cheerful book about depression.' The writer is a poet, so she can write. It is not depressing in the least, and I've learned a lot from it. I first read the Christabel Bielenberg book around thirty years ago. It is the story of a English woman married to a German, and living in Nazi Germany. They are part of the opposition to Hitler, but have to toe a fine line in order to survive. I'd forgotten just how well she writes, she frames her stories like a great novelist. It was made into a TV series starring a young Liz Hurley.
