My new Welsh costume
I had hoped to have finished this by St. David's Day (Sunday), but, you know, my health ...
As the whole world knows (*ahem*) 1st March means going to school in your Welsh costume, if you're a girl - boys, generally, wore the national rugby kit. Having a mam who was, at the time, a Home Economics teacher meant that I had a handmade costume made of 100% Welsh wool - and authentic detail such as apron, square shawl, and a betgwn jacket. It was warm, but it was brilliant.
Unfortunately, having not seen the light of day since 1987, when mam and dad were packing up the house prior to their move they discovered that my beloved costume had not stood the test of time and, sadly, the only healthy thing to do was to bin it.
*sob*
So last week I decided to recreate my costume for a toy cat (that I had started in 2016), and I have have to say that I'm quite pleased with the results of my designs, especially the stovepipe hat.
Can't wait for mam to see it!
