A woman's ode to England
Despite the title, Lorna was not quite a woman in March 1931 when she wrote this poem. She had recently turned 17.
Like some of her other juvenile work, here Lorna seems to accept the notion of womanly weakness. This, we know from her later work, changes when she leaves home. One thing is constant, however: her 'pen that burns to write'.
