Sir Big Yin
I was fortunate to be invited to Castle Fine Art in South Milton Street for the launch of Billy Connolly’s new art work. For a man with Parkinson’s , his work is tremendous. He is inspirational and was clearly tired by the end of the event which lasted about 90 minutes but was patient and smiling while being touched, photoed and harangued by many gushing and over excited folk. He is still sharp, funny and totally adorable. Extras include his tartan brothel creepers, my purchase of Madonna sans Child, and his eventual escape into the London rain with his manager and daughter.
The sculpted piece was made of one of his designs by a Southport based sculptor- welding referring to his time served in Glasgow as an apprentice welder.
