“Let’s not shake hands”: Coronavirus vs #AWP20

I’m at AWP 2020, the world’s biggest conference for creative writing programmes. Normally it attracts 12,000 visitors and 700 exhibitors. This year it’s in San Antonio, Texas - but the Coronavirus outbreak has laid waste to events. Lots of cancellations, attendance way down and everywhere you go, signs like this.

In the future, nobody shakes hands.
