Words
It’s that time of year again - ‘Words by the Water’ at the Theatre by the Lake, Keswick. It was the first day today and we had one event booked for this evening - John Crace, sketch writer for the Guardian. He was very good. We laughed, as he talked cynically about politicians, but it was more the laughter of despair than anything else. He says his job has got easier, as politicians say things and instead of having to exaggerate, or even make things up, he just transcribes and takes credit for the jokes. And these are the people making decisions that affect us all. Oh dear!
We have a full day of Words booked for Monday and another for Friday. Just hoping the Coronavirus doesn’t put a stop to the Festival. It had certainly not put anyone off today; the theatre was full and I couldn’t see any empty seats.
