Corona beer and COVID-19

This is the current display in the window of one of our local off-licences. It might be considered by some as amusing, but I do wonder if it's in rather dubious taste? My extra gives detail of the real effects of Corona beer.

We interviewed three candidates for a funded PhD studentship this afternoon. They all performed well. This is both good news and bad: (a) we know that we will recruit a great student, but (b) we have a difficult decision to make, and it is one that will disappoint two excellent candidates. If only we had three studentships on offer!

I've also been working today with Rachel on the third in the series of RIVAL events (following the second on 7th November, and the first on July 11th, last year). We learnt this morning that Bruce will be back in Edinburgh next week. We'll be really pleased to see him. It's been hard work 'being Bruce' and covering his conference prep duties during his absence.
