Winter woods
Up to our wood today to decide which semi-fallen trees need to be completely felled and to gather some kindling for firing up the log burner. It started snowing whilst we were heating our soup for lunch and the dogs decided we were mad and momentarily retreated to the car boot.
Momentarily. Now there's a word that North America has somehow changed from its original meaning of "for a moment" and now uses to mean "in a moment"; for example, "I'll be with you momentarily". Ouch. Mind you they were vastly amused 22 years ago in Florida when I asked for a rubber and announced I was going outside for a fag....
