Growing success?

I'm useless with plants. Most of my house plants are low maintenance ones that are difficult to kill off! Despite this my Mum insists on buying me orchids. This is the third one. The other two have gone back to live with her and have flowered within weeks of doing so. This one has been sat around looking a bit sad and as if it might need to join it's predecessors and I did contemplate waving the white flag at Xmas and just giving it back to her to nurse back to health.

But what's this? It appears to be a bud!!!! I might actually get one to flower yet! Watch this space....
