with an inkwell

remember back in the day - when pens didn’t exist - well, it was far back in the day - but imagine having to put - a quill into an inkwell - in order to write upon paper - dipping over and over - and for me - the potential smudges which - would probably have - been created let alone - the sheer frustration of all - that dipping which was necessary - to write, whereas today we - have the simplicity of - pens that allow us - to write for what seems - like forever and a day

yet i find the inkwells - fascinating themselves because - there are so many - different kinds that were - available in the marketplace - fancy or plain - cut glass, blown glass or pressed glass - they were all individually beautiful - this one is hand blown with an applied lip - and dates to about 1840 - i am fortunate to own several - inkwells all with their - own unique characteristics - which is why this can be...
