Pays The Next Day, London
Went to see the Deutsche Borse Prize at the Photographers Gallery. Unfortunately, it lived down to my expectations. Three quarters of it was smug, intellectualised bollocks. Full of "clever' ideas but really boring photography. It's a bloody VISUAL medium - I want to be excited, in awe, even enviously jealous of wonderful images, instead I came out deflated while also scratching my head at some of the utter nonsense being spouted.
The only photographer's work I liked, and whose images had an impact was Mark Neville, which means he definitely won't win!
I then went down to see the work of Jan Svoboda - that wasn't much better! Two exhibitions and it still felt expensive at £5!!
