Been a funny old day

The plan was to get the washing/ironing sorted out in the morning and head into Toledo at lunchtime to see the bits we missed yesterday. The plans changed when we had a call from Mr PHL’s brother Peter who lives near Madrid to tell us that the schools were closed fir 2 weeks. He works fir a news agency and is normally pretty unflappable so when he said he was concerned at our kids plans to come to Madrid next week and our plan to stay for 2 weeks, we thought we’d better reassess our plans. Upshot is that we are rebooked on the ferry home on Saturday - cutting our trip short by 2 weeks but it feels like the right things to do in the current climate. The kids have been very understanding and are possibly relieved themselves.

So today was all about packing up and getting ready to head north - couldn’t get on an earlier ferry from Spain due to the size of our van so we’re having to drive back up through France again.

Did have a couple of hours to sit and bask in the last of the sunshine.

Off to Peter’s town tomorrow for a couple of nights then onwards to St Malo.
