Thompsett's Charity
Not much time for photography today. I've hired a log splitter and need to keep at it to get through all my fallen trees.
I've no idea why this house is called " Thompsett's Charity" but I do know that it dates from the early 16th century and is one of the older houses in the parish and probably fairly typical of the yeoman farmers. It sits on the edge of Roeheath, one of the smaller areas of common land that was allotted to the churchwardens and protected from the enclosures in the 17th century.
