Tidal surge

Very high tide today and the flood prevention gates on the slipway hadn’t been closed by the EA. Waves were actually cresting the top of the slope and running into the club grounds.
Four of us sussed out how to release the gates and with only one wet foot we got them shut.
It was a very big spring tide today with a 5.8 metre range - about a metre bigger than normal. The level covered the walkway and submerged the depth gauge but the bungalow stayed dry - just!
