Memory
Lilacs aren't really meant to grow here, but our steadfast little shrub gives out a few flowers every year, sweet reminders of spring back East--where they are paired with forsythia and explode all purple and yellow and smell like heaven.
We are weeding away in the garden. Mr S worked around the apple trees and I poked around underneath the roses and hydrangea and cleared some of the overgrown paths. I bought myself a comfy weeding bench that flips over to become a kneeler, and it made things a little easier. Luckily it was a lovely sunny day and everything out there is just bursting with delight.
