The toilet paper aisle...
Yesterday a friend of mine who lives in another country but is currently self-isolating, reminded me that it might not be a bad idea to stock up on some supplies just in case for whatever I have to end up working from home for a couple of weeks. I have read a few news stories (including a great Trevor Noah clip) about toilet paper shortages but never expected to see on my shop, which is in a village, the empty toilet paper aisle. Luckily loo paper wasn’t on my shopping list, and I am still trying to get through my box of wgac from last year. Remarkably, even they have sold out! Who would have thought the loo paper industry would be so lucrative one day. And what if I really had run out of toilet paper yesterday?
As much as people feel inconvenienced by all the measures we need to remember to be kind to one another, and think about the immunocompromised, and young and elderly people around us. Halting the spread is the best we can do. Who knows what the coming weeks holds but if anything its forcing the world to slow down just a little. Even that though is hard because it means some peoples jobs are at risk which is also not great for those individuals. Like everything in life, there is no silver bullet solution and its a complex problem to solve.
