Let them eat cake

We are continuing to isolate ourselves Far from the Madding Crowd in the hope that we can avoid any viruses.
 
Although today we had honoured guests to lunch.
 
I was whining that the shops had run out of strong white flour for my bread making when my resident Marie Antoinette said “Let them eat cake!
 
So I made a rich fruit cake, served in the traditional way with a slice of Wensleydale cheese.
 

I’ll take inspiration wherever I can.
