So our Nepali doctor friends have returned now to the other side of the Pennines persuaded that it is as I told them the dark side.

It was a pleasure and an honour to host them in Yorkshire, they fussed over the dogs, made kind comments about my dhal bhat, marvelled at York, walked on the moor and in the dales and posed compliantly for my photo.

We watched Moonlight together yesterday evening, such a beautifully crafted and acted film, which might not have been an easy co-viewing with other of my Nepali friends, but they were able to hold the themes well and find resonance in their own experience as we reflected on them afterwards.

I sometimes have to supress the urge to call them part of Nepal’s future, as they are already part of it’s present.
