Sally Mair - Loving life

Ruby wedding

Our Ruby Wedding camellia is bursting into flower again, almost five years on. Thank you Joyce. This year is our 45th anniversary, where does the time go.
Today we went to church and then had a good discussion afterwards about whether or not to have coffee after the service from now on, looking at the advice from the Bishops... Yes we will, but we'll bring our own cups and one person, gloved, will do all the pouring and serving. All biscuits will be individually wrapped — great that sounds like a license to eat chocolate. As our Rector said, the Anglican sacrament of the Eucharist is closely followed by that of tea and coffee! We'll cancel our monthly fellowship lunches for the next couple of months though. It was a very friendly meeting where different points of view were aired but all finished amicably. A very caring and supportive congregation, we're so lucky.
We've had a quiet day, lots of things to think about, we're being encouraged by our doctor daughter to consider ourselves as part of the vulnerable group and to impose a degree of self isolation at home for the duration. Bridge has been cancelled for the rest of the season - but given the age of most of our members that seems sensible.
Lots of cupboard clearing ahead of us I think, the charity shops should do well and, with any luck with all this time on our hands, our garden will look amazing come the summer.
I've been in touch with our elderly neighbour across the way to make sure all is well. We've jokingly arranged that she'll hang a sheet out of the window if she needs us! .
Keep well everybody.
