Harlequins Dipped - Lumix 14mm
This is one of a pair of raised panels for the doors of a tea cart. The woods are walnut and olive-ash burl veneer. I usually use a varnish which has tung oil as one of its components. It turns out that the tung oil is darkening the olive-ash too much. So there's just the one coat of tung oil and then I switched to a crystal clear varnish to do the remainder of the sealing process. The new varnish is quite viscous but flows and levels itself beautifully. It also has a high gloss, making the freshly varnished panel look as if it is delicious Swiss chocolate ripe for the biting.
