A funny boating story
I may have told this story before on blip - forgive me if I have. I opened my undies drawer this morning and there was this rowboat rollick! My late husband put it there to make me laugh by reminding me of a story relating to my childhood.
When I was about 7 Y.O. my mum took me out in a small rowboat on the Georges River (Sydney). The current was stronger than it looked and we were swept away. Her variant efforts to row us back resulted in one of the rollicks flipping overboard out of it's hole, leaving mum with only one oar & unable to row. Quick thinking mum told me to take my pants off quickly. I did so and watched her rip them into a longish strip which she used to push through the hole and tie the oar in place with a figure of 8 knot. It enabled her to row us back to shore eventually. My main memory was jumping ashore into very cold water which I'm sure felt all the colder due to my poor little bare bottom!
