Day 077/20. The Purple Honeycreeper.
A last hour visit to Marwell today while it is still open..... We almost had the place to ourselves.
The purple honeycreeper is a small bird in the tanager family. It is found in the tropical New World from Colombia and Venezuela south to Brazil, and on Trinidad. A few, possibly introduced birds have been recorded on Tobago.
But it really is this deep blue...not purple. Was the ornithologist who named it colour blind?
