Retford Park
We are in Bowral for a reunion of Mr isbi’s university colleagues.
OK maybe we shouldn’t be, but couple of days ago it seemed alright and we promise to be good from now on.
Quite a few cancelled so it’s not a big gathering and (I’d like to say everyone but) most are very conscious of social distancing. No one kissed me but I did see a couple forget and shake hands with Mr isbi. Out came my hand sanitizer.
I believe they are double spacing us at the dinner tonight which won’t be difficult as it seems we are the only patrons at the Hotel Gibraltar.
Instead of joining the golf or vineyard tour today we set off for a drive around the lovely Southern Highlands.
We had a stroke of luck when we did a drive by on the National Trust property, Retford Park.
Normally it would be closed today but there is an exhibition of the iconic photos of Nelson Mandela by Matt Willman and also some of his amazing African animal shots on which meant the house and gardens were open. Not only that, there was a fascinating tour of the house with us the only ones to participate.
The best news is Helen and Omar are now en route from Dubai to Sydney due in tomorrow at 7am. The government has issued an urgent advisory for all Australians to return home ASAP so at least I shouldn’t be in trouble for being a panicky mother :-)
For once I am In the right place on the right day for the WidWed theme of “historical “. Thanks Steveng.
