Technology failure
A rare glimpse into my workspace. I spent much of the day in conference calls that should have been full video conferencing, but the client's technology did not work. The defining feature of my day was spending five hours across two meetings telling clients things that are hard for them to hear. Both projects that we have been evaluating for these clients have downsides as well as upsides and one of the team heads had expected only upsides. Oh well, we have to be honest and report fully on our research whether people like it or not, that's the thrill and the fear in doing this kind of work. Things are still a bit up in the air regarding our attempt to get over to our French home. We should know tomorrow if the ferry is sailing. If it is, we will give it a go. We have all our papers to show at the checkpoints. It may be a black and white-knuckle trip, shot in Kodachrome, starring Hardy Kruger and Liv Ullmann, but we hope to get through the barricades and win through. Maybe beret and gaberdine would be in order!
