A day of extreme heat 28°, we topped the country temperatures. 

We walked early,  it was an absolute joy to be out and about, and away from all the negative news. 
There have been so many developments here today, another 8 confirmed cases (now 28) but all related to overseas travel not community transmission. Then late this afternoon of PM announced as of midnight tonight our borders are closed to tourists.  NZ's can still come home, if flights are available.  It appears that some (not all) tourists that have been coming in the last two weeks haven't been self isolating as directed. Not good enough, desperate times require desperate measures.

I met a couple of my good mates for a coffee this morning in a usually busy cafe, it was terribly quiet and empty.  Oh dear...still lovely to spend an hour with friends.

To finish off the good things of my day a telephone conversation with freeespiral this evening.
