Nicky and her Nikon

Xena, come!

She is good at recall. Or maybe she just doesn't like to be left too far behind. On Monday and yesterday the woods were busy and I thought this is how it will be now on that people are working from home, out on dog walks (when they should be working) and so the woods are busier than usual. Today however it was eerily quiet. We did however meet up with someone I have met a few times in the woods who has a male Vizsla, and he and Xena played non stop for about 15 minutes chasing each other around the trees while we chatted from a distance of about 3 metres apart! We agreed to try and meet again next week as the dogs played so well together, obviously keeping our distance as we walk.

I think it is a tragedy that the school students will no longer be able to write their public exams this summer  - GCSE and A levels. Both sets of exams are two year courses and after working so hard the students will now not be able to get a true result, an accurate reflection of their ability. Not sure how they will cope with university applications now. I am so grateful that both Adam and Luke graduated last summer and Thomas finished school last summer, it must be so frustrating for those who cannot write exams. Today however the PM will be addressing the issue so maybe they come up with a more acceptable solution for these students on the news broadcast tonight.

I popped in to Waitrose to get bread today, and the shelves were the most empty I have ever seen them - there was nothing left in fresh produce including all meats, fruit and veg, and no store cupboard items or cleaning products other than washing powder. Today they sent out an email saying they would start limiting quantities bought of key items - too late!! I blame the supermarkets for the food shortage, they should have stepped in weeks ago. It is particularly bad around here - Adam says in Cambridge he can still get most things. Gavin said there was a queue of 1km long this morning outside the Waitrose branch near his office.

Not good news about the second wave of virus infections in Asia as people return home. Social isolation is all well and good to flatten the curve and help the medical facilities cope better with the crisis, but it is not helping at all to fight the virus.
