Savannah Dawn
Road Trip -- Day 9. A l-o-n-g day of driving today -- 8 hours in the car, traveling through 4 states. As we left Savannah, Georgia early this morning, we were treated to this lovely, lemon yellow, misty scene. This evening, we are back again at the charming Clifton Inn in Charlottesville, Virginia. We ate lunch at a dreary drive-through Burger King in South Carolina, then plowed on through North Carolina, and into Virginia. Tomorrow will be another long haul which will hopefully find us laying our weary heads tomorrow night in our own bed at our farm in Connecticut.
Extras: Another roadside wonder -- Pedro's South of the Border extravaganza right on the South/North Carolina border. From the scores of garish billboards we saw as we approached it, it would seem to be a combination motel, campground, restaurant, fireworks shop, and reptile lagoon. Mind boggling! Also a classic old feed and grain store near where we paused for a social distancing lunch.
