The autumn equinox has passed
I went back to google to check the "exact time" of the equinox. For New Zealand it is the autumn equinox, and for northern hemispherites it is the vernal/spring equinox. Here we are still on Daylight Savings Time, which is 13 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, also known as Universal Co-ordinated Time.
So the equinox passed at 16:48 this afternoon, and I took this picture of the sunset nearly three hours later at 19:30. We had finished our meal of sausages and mashed potato (with cabbage). Once I was a little more adventurous with cooking.
CoVid-19 cases continue to grow in New Zealand despite the interventions being taken. So far every confirmed case has been overseas, or in close contact with someone who had been and has also tested positively. At the supermarket this morning, there were containers of hand sanitiser available and most customers used them. There was no other palpable sign of anxiety. I wonder if the response to this new virus (which is a very sensible response) may result in a reduction in the seasonal flu.
Last night was our Peer Review group meeting. One of us was injured; two decided to meet in a small restaurant; two of us chose to not attend as it is not essential to do so; and the sixth member found the uncertainty about meeting or not too confusing and went home after work. It was all last minute decision making as the injury was recent, and I was more worn out than worried and didn't feel up to going out. I might see if we can use Zoom technology for next month's meeting, if the restrictions haven't been lifted.
