FlowerFriday20_2020 Sweetheart roses
I bought these today at our local supermarket. I and Mr MC made the mistake of going just as the pupils had been sprung from the local high school. These pupils enter the supermarket accompanied by a few staff members, wearing hi viz jackets, to ensure that there is no unruly behaviour. There wasn't. There was also apparently no understanding whatsover of the Coronavirus situation and the need for social distancing. A group of very polite girls and a teacher moved a few inches apart so that I could enter the main shopping area and looked totally nonplussed when I mentioned the 2 metres recommended safe distancing! I dread to think what it will be like when their school is closed.
Two announcements today: details of key workers for whom the schools should remain open, a list so extensive that in some areas I imagine more will be able to attend that stay at home. Rather late in the day it was announced that the government will pay up 80% of wages of employees not working, up to a limit of £2500 pcm. No help yet for the self employed, of which there are quite a number. Hopefully some help will be forthcoming.
Pubs, restaurants, gyms, leisure centres etc have now been ordered to close. Scary newspaper headlines abound on social media: I'm beginning to look away from those that are not merely factual as it is not good for mental health.
Mr MC's patients continue to cancel, although some have still attended. I fear for the young men who invested so much in purchasing our practice and the staff who are now in their employ
I think that this is my 1500th blip, although my infrequent blipping means that I've taken since July 2012 to get here!
