Late for Yuletide!

Had a walk through the woods locally, and this heap of timber struck a chord in my childhood memories, the time when we used to saw logs in preparation for the fire we'd have in the lounge over the Christmas holidays. We used to invite a very elderly bachelor (server for my father at church) for Christmas lunch. He was quite predictable - each year he'd sit in the fire more than beside it, scatter his pipe dottle all round the hearth, and if our cat showed her face, he'd launch a vicious kikck in her direction!
