The world outside my window
The frozen wastelands of North East England as viewed from my train headed north.
I decided that discretion was the better part of valour and caught an earlier train home.
The news is talking about a nasty looking snow front heading into the Scottish Central belt (home) from the west and I don't want to get cut off.
The train is running a bit late due to a broken rail (to be honest I'm surprised it's running at all given the possible risk)
The lady sitting nearby clearly didn't agree as she was tapping her fingers loudly and sighing constantly along with giving her friend in Newcastle regular telephone updates so I decided to to cheer her up by chatting to her. Turns out the poor thing has been on the train for seven hours and just wants to get home. We chatted for a while about Orkney and the other Scottish islands and before we knew it we were at Newcastle.
