Mothers Day with a Difference
Today was Mothers Day, but with a difference this year as we were told not to visit in person to slow the virus spread. It didn't affect me as my mum died decades ago, but I did feel sorry for those not able to visit their mum (and even more sorry for those mums who did have an unwise visit!!!). So here's some tulips for all the mums out there.
I caught up with a couple of loads of washing which dried outside in the lovely sunshine and started working on feeding the garden borders. I was also measuring up to order a large raised bed 'container' to build. My sisters and I are setting up the House Party app so we can have a video chat across the 4 of us.
Day 7 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 48 to 281 (including 18 year old); Italy up 651 to 5,476 and Spain up 394 to 1720. Germany now requires no meetings of more than 2 people from separate households for 2 weeks. Movement restrictions introduced within Greece. PM announces the start of next phase of 'shielding'. 1.5 million 'extremely vulnerable' people will receive a letter / text from their surgery this week telling them to go into lockdown for 12 weeks. There will be support available should they have no neighbour / friend / family to get them food or prescriptions as organised by senior army officers and delivered via hubs. Boris stressed again the need to take social isolating seriously (2 metres apart) and if not then further action will be taken sooner rather than later. National Trust has now closed all parkland due to social isolating not working. Snowdonia National Park reported its busiest ever visitor day in living memory on Sat. Nicola Sturgeon gave a very clear assessment of the situation and was assertive in giving instructions to Scots (Boris take note).
