The extra is the new and controversial bridge on the east quay. Controversial because it is there to facilitate further industrial development in an area next to the sea, beach, river and the Tide Mills conservation area.  For example, the proposed concrete block making factory will operate 24 hours a day and involve many lorries heading for Newhaven (in adddition to those going on and off the ferry) along roads not fit for this kind of wear and tear.
