Keep Calm
A beautiful sunny day, warm too. We didn't have the heating on most of the day. Lots of conference calls all day long, getting quite used to working like this now.
After work, Annie responded to a Facebook post requesting personal hygiene products and easy snacks for NHS workers who will shortly be sleeping in chairs whilst they work around the clock. She bought a big stack of shampoos, Pot Noodles and Haribo (and other things, all from their list). By the time she'd finished, the drop off point at the hospital was closed...and now we're in lockdown! Oh well, they'll still need them in 3 weeks time - if we're allowed out then, that is.
This evening I (Chris) popped down to Eythrope again. This will probably be my daily exercise so it’s good to get familiar with the available photo options. A beautiful sunset created the light captured here for just a few minutes as the trees reflected in the water. In the extras I've caught the couple of minutes of gorgeous sunset light in the flowing water too.
The evening news announced we’re in formal lockdown to try to control the virus. We’re only allowed out for essential shopping, to help the vulnerable and for an hour’s exercise (with only your own household).
Edit (July 2020): This was the main event. The announcement came that we were in full lockdown, following the voluntary social distancing rules being widely ignored. It was the start of a very unusual time. The whole UK is essentially under house arrest.
The government also asks about 1.5 million "vulnerable" people who will likely need hospital treatment to "shield" themselves. This involves voluntarily staying at home for 12 weeks to avoid getting the virus.
