Minibeast Madness
While Janet went off to her fortnightly clinic for bloods, Charlie and I decided to social distance along the river back, with our cameras, looking for decent macro opportunities. There were bee flies aplenty as well as honeybees and assorted buzzy things, and one lovely comma butterfly, but I liked this fellow.
When we got home we found out that Janet's coming Friday operation to replace her stent had been cancelled and - prior to Johnson's 'confined to barracks' speech this evening - was not only disallowed from leaving her home but wasn't allowed contact with anyone else in it. Apparently her kidney puts her in the highest of the vulnerable categories.
It's remarkably hard, to dance around the house with two people intent on not crossing an invisible and mobile two metre no-mans-land. And it's a hard ask for two people married close on thirty years not to touch, cuddle or hug. Day one was hard... by day ten we'll be long past insanity.
The reaction of government to casual social interaction in the face of the ongoing covid-19 emergency was predictable, but I am sad that Janet didn't get her operation, and I'm bemused as to how we're supposed to live like this. However, friends and neighbours rallied around with shopping just in time for the lockdown.
I fear there will be very many garden blips coming...
