Bleeding hearts
We have a whole slew of these pretty plants that have spread from a couple I purchased a decade ago during a kindergarten fundraiser. They’re a bright spot in the rain and chill today.
The governor of Virginia this afternoon ordered all state schools to extend closure for the rest of the school year. Our last day would’ve been June 13. This is not a surprise (well, maybe it is...mid June is still a ways out, so we were holding out hope that things would improve in time for the last weeks of school). And as he said, it was a decision necessarily made at the state level in absence of leadership at the top. But it’s still a blow especially for I. who’s in the thick of junior year and in the key semester gearing up for college applications. Perhaps something eventually can be set up over the summer; we shall see. In the meantime, I planted peas.
