Super gorgeous day

Very pleased that today was booked as annual leave as the weather was fab. I sat outside wearing surgical gloves whilst I handled the rat poison blocks. The contraption from yesterday now has 10 blocks on it and is secreted in the loft- I’m so glad it’s done as if took quite a bit of effort screwing the blocks down in hard uncooperative wood and trying not to split them. My hand hurts from using the small screwdriver (I couldn’t find a decent sized one as I suspect MrH has taken the other ones away with him).

Used the good weather to continue to paint a grubby outdoor wall white. It’s taking a while to do a proper job but hopefully it will be worth the extra effort with the wire brush.

I finally unpacked the replacement side gate (which feels huge) and gave it a first coat of creacote, I’ll do another coat tomorrow as the weather is forecast to be decent.

Fabulous bonus from cleaning out the kitchen cupboards yesterday is that I’ve found a chocolate and hazelnut nougat I bought at Christmas :-)

MrH called this morning to tell me he was coming back from Ireland a couple of weeks early thanks to the government advice (I’ve not seen him since the first week of January). I then got a call a bit later to say he’s staying out for another 8 weeks . . . Waiting to hear confirmation.

Pleased about the lockdown situation and hope people are staying safe and healthy.

Dismayed to hear about 75 year old Chris. A now infamous caller to a radio show today who didn’t seem to care about the lockdown and was still socialising (I’m sure you can find the recording if you are interested). The radio recording has been trending today on Twitter as, ‘#Bye Chris’ and made me shake my head in despair. The DJ stayed incredibly calm and in the end had to just politely end the call.

I hope this health crisis helps us to work together with each other to develop some empathy, kindness and a sense of genuine social responsibility. I am still amazed by people who really don’t care about other’s health and dismiss any suggestion they have any burden responsibly as silliness.
