Good girls!

Our little Marran is obviously enjoying her new freedom to roam the orchard and has finally laid us an egg! We have been waiting since last autumn when she moulted, although the two golden hens began laying in January.
They were all naughty yesterday and got through into my vegetable garden, fortunately not much has been planted yet and they were just helping with the raking!

What a lovely afternoon it was! The bees were very busy gathering bright yellow pollen which I think comes from the celandine. I took the opportunity to have a quick look through the hives and all four seem to be doing well after the long wet winter. We will hope for this weather to continue!
