The Great Covid-19 Lockdown - day 2
Woke up marvellously late. Jayzus that was nice. Then had some leisurely breakfast and checked some work-related email, in the vague hope that PPE had materialised out of nowhere, or at least somewhere nearer than China, and would be delivered and ready to use on Monday morning.
It was not to be. We still have a few days of buffer but...
Cycled down to the west pier, which happens to be just within the permitted 2 mile radius for one daily session of personal exercise. What do you say? Kilometres? Miles, kilometres... isn't it all the same?
It felt weird (the cycle to the end of the pier) and delicious (the swim in the rather agitated Irish Sea - just found myself a sheltered little corner). Then I made some Asian chicken noodle soup that the kids declared to be delicious. Good kids. They know there is shag all plan B for food, so they may as well embrace my cooking.
Then more work on the laptop and before I knew it, it was 5 PM. Took the kids for a run and jump and scream and mess around the university gardens. We all kept our 2 meter distance on the way there, all civilised and compliant.
Then dinner - cod and potatoes bravas and marrow-fat peas and homemade tartar sauce - that they ate hungrily (still no plan B you see...) And now they are about to watch some shite on Netflix as I am seriously considering heading to bed, since we are about to lose one whole hour during the night. Imagine that! Almost 60 minutes of sleep robbed from us.
As if things were not depressing enough...
